I have two git trees on kernel.org for any patches for the in-kernel driver changes, which i40e is already a part of the 4.0 kernel. We do not have a "external" git tree for our out-of-tree driver which your patches seem to be against. For reference here are my two trees on kernel.org: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jkirsher/net-queue.git git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jkirsher/next-queue.git The in-kernel driver for the 4.0 kernel is already up-to-date and is most likely "ahead" of the out-of-tree driver that you are trying to use, so you should be using the i40e driver that already exists in the 4.0 kernel. Since the 4.0 kernel was released after our last driver release, it is expected to not have the necessary kcompat changes for 4.0 yet, but any future out-of-tree driver release should have the necessary kcompat changes to compile the out-of-tree driver. So in short, you should be using the in-kernel driver currently until our next out-of-tree driver release.
