It is not a bug. The driver does not have a way to power down the PHY on
DA cables as it does with fiber SFP+ modules.

Sorry for the late reply but I had to ask around as this is not something
I knew off the top of my head.

In general you can file tickets on e1000.sf.net for driver issues. They are
reviewed by the same developers as this mailing list, but it's easier to keep
track of tickets especially if there is lots of debug info as you can attach
files to the tickets.
