Hey Ryan,

As for submitting a patch for get/set_link_ksettings the normal way it works is 
you would submit the patch upstream to Jeff's queue.  We would look it over 
including some testing here.  If it ended up getting in we would later back 
port it into the sourceforge driver and you would hopefully (somewhat depending 
on the timing of the patches arrival) see it in the next release.

One of the reason we haven't done this work yet is that the 5G/2.5G support in 
X550 isn't currently compatible with the IEEE standard (802.3bz) largely due to 
the HW being release before the spec was.  All that is supported is AQ's 
proprietary NBASE-T, we don't advertising support as allowing it to be forced 
might confuse customers attempting to connect with the IEEE standard.  We do 
plan to support 802.3bz in the future, can't tell you when as I don't know 
myself :), but at that point we would add the support.

I wanted to make this clear so you knew the limitation of the current HW.
