Hi,
mcoolive, Tux you may have a look at :
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/superdindon/speedtouch-mod/ (documentation) and
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/superdindon/speedtouch-mod/files/speedtouch-mod_1.2-3.tar.gz

It uses debconf and takes into account hotplug for speedtouch driver.

As I told below, I'm interested to see if we can have some things in
common
- modem_run is maybe like eaglectrl to obtain synchronization for the
modem,
- maybe startadsl and stopadsl can be used to have same behaviour from
an end-user point of view,
- then choices of configuration may have in common VPI / VCI,
configuration (scripts will of course be different...)
- perhaps eaglediag could be adapted for speedtouch (I need to have the
equivalent of eaglestat to display synchronization stats and the name of
speedtouch module for a grep...) eaglediag -mcui # should work, just try
it SuperDindon (right click/save) :
http://cvs.gna.org/viewcvs/*checkout*/eagleusb/eagleusb/utils/scripts/eaglediag?rev=1.20

Maybe I can adapt the adsl_isp_db.pl to generate what's needed for
configuration questions ? (just tell me the format of lines to
display... I can output vpi/vci/encapsulation/ISP name... and other
parameters just have a look at the content of :
http://cvs.gna.org/viewcvs/eagleusb/eagleusb/utils/scripts/adsl_consts.pm?rev=1.3&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup
for what you're interested in ;-) )

You may as well have a look at how we proceed for eagle-usb driver, so
that the work is not made twice and differently for the end-user.

I Cc mcoolive who's in charge of packaging our driver for debian.

Some comparisons between ADSL USB drivers (in French, may not be too
much of a problem ?)
http://dev.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=DevCommunDriverUsbADSL

Documentation for installation :
http://dev.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=DocDebian (as well in
French ;-) )

Some more documentations :
http://dev.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=PackagingDebian
http://dev.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=DevLinks (see at the bottom)

and http://cvs.gna.org/viewcvs/eagleusb/eagleusb/debian/ for the content
necessary for packaging : using debconf to ask as intelligent questions
as possible (correct me mcoolive if I'm wrong ;-) )

One remark : I think that only the country has to be translated, not the
ISP name (which is currently the case...) and seeing the list at
http://www.eagle-usb.org/article.php3?id_article=23 that keeps
increasing... maybe it should be for reference-only, to configure
manually appropriate parameters.
