I don't know if this information is useful, but in sake of accuracy I point out that the system freezes after rmmod in any case, e.g. even when the modem is operational and "I'm connected" -- I mean : the computer is connected, of course :-) BTW, anybody's welcome to explain me the *real* difference between a synecdoche an a metonymy.
