Actually, my post in this instance was more humorous than mean and unfriendly. I do make many of the latter posts, because I have strong opinions and am not really interesting in being part of one big happy family. I get enough agreement for my posts that I do not feel I'm just ranting and raving for nothing, and that many people DO agree. If you don't like the style (which is perfectly fair, and I can sympathise with that), then you should killfile me (any decent newsreader supports that).
As for your argument, JetBrains provide the EAP builds to solicit feedback. Not as some kind of huge favour and kindness they bestow upon us. Developers provide feedback and report bugs, THAT is a lot more valuable to JetBrains than them gushing and being thankful for how lucky they are that they get EAP builds. I think the JetBrains folks realise that they really do have quite an amazing IDE, and they get plenty of credit for that. I'm just one of (many) developers who feels a bit frustrated lately with the current EAP. Finally, regarding release dates...The apple java project manager said that JDK 1.4 will be out after the 10.2 Jaguar release (scheduled for September). The release date of IDEA 3.0 doesn't concern me particularly, the unavailability of EAPs that are usable to me does. Look behind the words, I often have something to say that's not just abuse!
