I would like to vote against an GUI-Editor. I've used some in the past
(mostly Delphi). It was nice to start developing, but it easily dissuades
you from your real work - to make a good and reliable program with a lot of
features. You tend to tweak here and there and forget the time.

If you have a midsized or large project, it is quite impossible to change
some corporate style (e.g. from now on all dialog boxes have their buttons
right aligned) or even to enforce a corporate style. Or try to replace a
JButton with your own implementation MyOwnButton...

Another point is, that the code, common GUI Editors produce (JBuilder or
Netbeans), is bloated and hard to read and to maintain.

Resume: Write your own helper classes for the GUI if you have a midsized or
large project. Or use Netbeans (because you need not to spend extra money)
to build a dialog on the fly if you only have a very small project. And if
you have a lot of time and still want to use a GUI-Editor, write your own
with IDEA's OpenAPI that is comming soon (but if you wrote it, I believe,
you will not need it any more, because it's 10 times faster to code the GUI).

Best regards,
Thomas Singer
