I think the obvious next step is to release IDEA as a .dll so it can be used in Microsoft Visual Studio. I'm going to wait for IDEA.NET - that way I can use it to write all my Java.NET apps. Hmm, I wonder if I could use it to refactor Visual Basic?

So what you're saying is that the whole world should be an Eclipse plugin. That'll be big news to almost every vendor which produces an IDE out there. You should let Borland, Omnicore, JetBrains, Jedit, and all the other people writing some form of IDE or the other know sooner rather than later, so they stop wasting their time and quickly bow to the mighty IBM. Secondly, the fact that IBM and several other 'major players' are throwing its weight behind to me just means that it'll be bloated, suffer from a lack of focus, and have great marketing. The only people who will really buy into it are those that one can amuse for hours on end by dangling a shiny object in front of them. IBM, the very same company that brought us Websphere, the most bloated and painful to use application server out there. If you want to convince people that this is a good idea, you'll need to provide a more impressive technical argument. Fashion and IBM bootlicking aren't very convincing to me.
