Agreed, this is why one of my co-workers refuses to use Idea, because
several of our files are very large that he works in all the time, and the
delay of just switching between editor panes takes too long, proliferated by
the fact he's using a 400MHz PII.

I don't think turning it off is the answer here though, because you still
want all of Idea's functionality when editing these large files.  It just
needs to be more efficient at running as a parallel process or thread.
