As Peter Coad says in UML with Color book:
"2-3 colors is usually enough, five is too many. Four color combinations
must be selected with great care. Nothing looks worse than too many
colors"

So to tackle too-many-undistinguishable-tabs problem use of colors is
not a good idea IMHO.

As does Lotus Notes and it's great. An x for closing and a little
drop-down arrow beneath is probably a good idea too (drop down will show
