I wonder whether 524 generally fixes unintercepted 'DOS' behavior
of the WinXX 'Alt' key, turning Alt keystrokes into 'strange' chars?
Observed this effect, too, and it's very nasty in extracting methods
as the selected text is sometimes replaced by a greek mu as the
rename dialog comes up, forcing a double undo redo and a retry...
Also, Prev/Next Bookmark now can't be placed on Alt Pgup/dn
any more as the Alt now inserts strange chars. My point is that
it seems this wasnt' in previous builds (until at least 517) ?
Same build, same env, German locale

got this NPE on extract method
and the character '�' was inserted in the code
