Is it feasible to create a user-defined keymap that gets the behaviour
you're looking for with a vi keymap? Sure, it'd be a bit of work, but I
imagine that there is really just a small subset of keystrokes that any
particular user would want emulated, and unless and until this is part of
the product, it shouldn't be too difficult to create one.
Just a thought.
