Hi,

Maybe for major releases which are posted to the site and all can download it, you can wrap it in an installer. But the EAP builds are better to be kept as simple zip files. I think most of us, EAP members, agree on this!

What do you think IntelliJ Guys?

Best Regards,

Armond

Hi,

I really like what I see in the Adriadna list.  But one small request/concern regarding the very last planned feature: Installer.  I know many people would like the installer because, supposingly, it simplifies the installation process.  I am aware of some magazine reviews complaining about IDEA’s lack of installer (dumb…).  But for us, we are really fond of the current installer as it is.  Simply unzip and the way you go.  Esp. for new updates or fix releases – it’s so quick and easy.  Can I suggest keeping this elegant and proven installation feature for future releases as well?

Another feature, if I may, can be the capability to detach all windows (such as Run, Debug, Messages) so that it can be resized/positioned outside of the main IDEA window.  Such feature is very useful for going back and forth huge output on the console and the source code.

Thanks,

Mike Liu
