Most likely you also upgraded to jdk 1.3.1_02. They haven't fixed the
problem with focus events in this release. We had a patch that worked only
for jdk1.3.1_01. Since the build 544 the patch will also work for the jdk
version 1.3.1_02. As a workaround, if the problem really annoys you, you
should downgrade to jdk 1.3.1_01 or (even better) to 1.3.1
