That's the problem. For a team to truly be successful at managing a large
code base, coding standards should be enforced. It rarely matters what the
standard is, as long as it used. And don't cave in to the one pain in the
ass on the team that says "but I have to have (insert formatting pecadillo
here) or it doesn't make sense". 

I guess this really goes back to the request that when code is checked out,
it be formatted to local format, and when its checked in it gets formatted
to team format...

then everybody's happy.
