I work on a big project.  I usually only have to have pieces of the
larger project checked out in order to work on a smaller subsystem.

I occasionally encounter classes in other packages which do not compile
because of unused import statements.  I do not have these packages
checked out because I do not need them.  But compilation fails because
the compiler wants them to be there.

I would be great to be able to see all of the imports that are unused so
I could easily delete them.  And other developers would be less likely
to leave them in!
