Yes.

Actually, the icons themselves are OK, but there's too much space wasted 
above and below them.

Maybe it would be easier to hit the buttons if they were actual buttons, 
or at least had a frame of some kind?  I can see how especially the 
shrink button (_) seems tiny.

I just tried making a couple of variations of the ordinary buttons -- 
I'll attach the image below.  First the original, then the same with 
maybe five pixels removed, then I made the horizontal spacing wider and 
added "3D" bars between the buttons to make them look more like separate 
buttons rather than just some strange symbols, and then a variation with 
full 3D buttons.  What do you think?  Disclaimer:  I'm not a GUI 
designer and don't know what I'm doing with a paint program :-)
