I agree with Don and Liam. The red/yellow/green dot is very useful. I would like for it to be displayed on the tabs and the project pane (when the pane is closed, it would be nice to have a dot next the label for the project pane).
For the tabs, it might be less distracting to have the green dot replaced with a grey one (so no attention is called to a tab that has no problem). Maybe even use grey on the displayed file....
