I remember using it some time ago and it worked fine ... 

I'm currently using cvs.exe and ssh.exe that come with the latest
version of TortoiseCVS and it works like a charm. Maybe you should give
it a try ?

Note: Make sure you're using a private key and that you have dropped
your public key your .ssh/authorized_keys file on your SF account. That
will let you connect without having to type a pwd. Maybe this is your
problem ?
