Title: Message
Oh for god's sake lighten up and stop taking this discussion to heart!

Perhaps we need a new "politically correct" list for all answers to suggestions that may offend people.

The questions remains whether a spell checker should be incorporated into IDEA.

I would suspect that the vast majority of users of the product would not want this feature.

+10 to no spell checker in IDEA.

Cheers

Tim

Subject: [Eap-list] (OFFTOPIC) Was - Spell checking comments and strings

What you all seem to have missed is the fact that some people happen to suffer from dyslexia which makes spelling a complete nightmare. Are you saying that those people shouldn't be programmers because they have trouble spelling - which is completely out of their control? It is a known fact that even High School can't even help with this problem (Patrick). The reaction to this request is very indicative of the way children behave at school when they find that the quite boy is different. Hey lets just all beat people with spelling problems, until they stop trying to lead normal lives like the rest of us and until they stop trying to make livings in such 'high class' professions as programming. They are obviously different and therefore shouldn't be allowed to programme!! Even better lets just burn them at the stake!

No spell checker PLEASE!!! I totally agree with Thomas - if you need a
spell checker to write comments you should probably go back to high
school and take some English lessons.

For what language the spell checking should be? I would prefer German,
but
other guys would prefer English, US-English, Spanish, French, Russian or

what ever. Do you think, that IntelliJ should support them all? To not
offend some users, they shouldn't waste time with ANY spell checker.

If one can't write comments without a spell checker, I believe, (s)he
should not write them at all. Or ()he should begin to reread her/his
comments before committing the files.
