You should be able to fix that by installing a 32-bit libc:
sudo apt-get install libc6-dev-i386
That helped me when I was playing around with EasyBuild on Ubuntu 11.10 .

Are you interested in EasyBuild for building any software package (or set of)
in particular?
We'll be porting support for the pool of 250+ supported packages from our old
(in-house) codebase to the publicly available version of EasyBuild in the next
couple of weeks/months, and can give priority to stuff that would be useful to
others…
