I'd suggest that you pay a bit closer attention to configopts & patches,
because I recall that there is little symmetry for them across OpenMPI versions.
(ie. explore the space of options enabling/disabling various bits)
Furthermore, I think going more towards goolf direction is probably recommended,
because goalf is known to suffer as toolchain across different scenaria.
(more for the "a" than the "o", but that is off-topic in this context)
We will likely work for an improved goolf during next Cyprus hackathon, fyi.
I already have made a refreshed one during last month; still need to issue a PR.
