Well, who knows what the "system OpenMPI version" is. It might be a generic OpenMPI that runs on top of Verbs, meaning the IP over Infiniband interface supported also on OmniPath fabrics. However, the performance of Verbs with OmniPath is said to be not al all optimized. For OpenMPI on OmniPath, one therefore must use the PSM2 interface.
