hello again,

i tried to add the Win XP on the ebox but i keep receiving the following error
message.

==================================
The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service
location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for
domain brain.local:

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.brain.local

Common causes of this error include the following:

- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.

- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child
zone:

brain.local
local
. (the root zone)

For information about correcting this problem, click Help.
==================================

it appears that XP is asking for a SRV entry in DNS under brain.local.

this seems to be related to the following posting:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=294445

i am really stuck here, and since i must have win XP clients i need to solve
this problem to make use of ebox.

any input will be most appreciated.

regards,

Nicolas

thanks,

assuming i want a local network with a PDC named 'BRAIN', i could create a DNS
entry for 'LOCAL'
add under 'LOCAL' an entry for 'BRAIN' which uses my ebox IP

and it should allow me to connect to my ebox PDC using 'BRAIN.LOCAL'

would this be roughly a solution?

regards,

Nicoals

Turn on and configure the DNS service as from XP forward there is
 a
dependency on DNS and not so much netbios....
