Hi Johan

If you want to changes are permanent even if ebox is restarted, you
should make the change the template of smb.conf called smb.conf.mas
located in /usr/share/ebox/stubs/samba

Regards.

Para: eBox users
Asunto: [Ebox-user] Permissions on shared folders

Hi,

I am on Ebox 0.9.99 and created one group with alot of users. I created
a shared folder called data and it seems like it shares it as _data
which is OK.

Now, I copied files from a Windows server to this shared folder and all
the users have this folder mapped to the Y:/ drive. The users can open
files and work on it and save it and close it. Afterwards when they try
to open the same file again it opens it as Read-Only and one needs to
save a copy of the file.

As soon as I modify the /etc/samba/smb.conf and change the permissions
from 0750 to 0777 as well as the directory to 0777 it all works fine.
When I restart Ebox the smb.conf resets the permissions to the previous
values.

This is a HUGE problem and I would like Ebox NOT to do this with the
shared files. This is a company with 13 users all working on different
files constantly and they cannot keep saving copies of the same file.

Is there a fix for this problem or is this a known bug or what do you
suggest I do?

Please, this is very urgent and I need help!

Kind Regards,

Johan Boshoff
