Hi Rich, Your porblem looks very mich like the one I had and still have now and again. I sent a message to the list two days ago and got two answers one mentioned the possible presence of dabusb.o in te list f modules (check typing lsmod on the console). The other came from someone with the same problem suggesting I try again till the connection gets established.
I had deleted dabusb.0 and however hard I tried couldn't make the connection work. So I decided to start from scratch, re-installed my Mandrake distribution and the package for the eci modem. It worked. However, the connection doesn't get established every time I try, and this evening I have again the same problem and can't get connected. It's a bit frustrating, I can't make out why sometimes it works and sometimes it just won't. Sorry this is not much help I'm afraid..
