Hi, I've several problems connecting my modem. Many have been solved with the help of the IRC guys (kolja and Flashcode) but now we are stuck. This is the output of startmodem:
========================================= setting up USB support (1/5).. loading TAP/TUN support tun loaded successfully loading firmware (2/5).. Process skipped .. no more needeusb 1-2: usbfs: process 1119 (eci-load2) did noe d firmware loaded successfully setting up modem (3/5).. ECI load 2: success synchronization successful connecting modem (4/5).. Using: vpi.vci=38.1 vendor/product=0x0915/0x8101 verbose level=2 log file=/tmp/pppoeci.log (enabled) pusb_set_interface_alt=5 < pid=1144 > [Tue Nov 30 01:40:20 1999 178446] Could not open tap device failed to connect ========================================= I have several tap devices: tap0-tap15 in /dev and the same in /dev/net. And in each directory there's a symlink called tun pointing to tap0. This is the output of lsmod: ========================================= Module Size Used by uhci_hcd 39344 0 pppoatm 6368 0 ppp_generic 31060 1 pppoatm slhc 6880 1 ppp_generic atm 46336 1 pppoatm tun 8416 0 n_hdlc 9636 0 usbcore 116040 3 uhci_hcd ========================================= ...so it looks like my kernel config is correct, doesn't it? And dabusb isn't compiled into the kernel either. Here's my eciadsl.conf: ========================================= VID1=0915 PID1=8101 VID2=0915 PID2=8101 MODE=LLC_SNAP_RFC1483_BRIDGED_ETH_NO_FCS VCI=1 VPI=38 FIRMWARE=/etc/eciadsl/firmware00.bin SYNCH=/etc/eciadsl/synch57.bin PPPD_USER=xxxxxxxx PPPD_PASSWD=xxxxxxxx USE_DHCP=no USE_STATICIP=no STATICIP= GATEWAY= MODEM=Other PROVIDER=Other DNS1=212.185.253.9 DNS2=194.25.2.129 ECILOAD2_OPTIONS=-t 240 PPPOECI_OPTIONS=-v 2 ========================================= kolja gave me synch57.bin after I sent him the USB sniffer's logfile under Windows. But talking about VCI and VPI we were both not sure. Windows is dialing the numbers 01910-3000, but this is a normal telephone number. kolja gave me 1 and 38, I've also tried them the other way round and I've also tried 1910 and 3000 for VCI and VPI, but always had the same result. My provider is vr-web, they use the infrastructure of Deutsche Telekom, so in fact it's T-DSL. That's why I'm sure about the MODE, they always use PPPOE. I also took the DNS servers from Deutsche Telekom. My modem is a Allnet ALL768UB and it has the GS7470 chipset inside. That's why I'm using kolja's Nortek usermode package. My Linux distribution is Debian Sarge. Regards, Thorsten ________________________________________________________________ Verschicken Sie romantische, coole und witzige Bilder per SMS!
