Ben, Thanks for your note. I agree with you that this can be a very useful thing for everyone that is interested in this support to do. I would ask that if anyone chooses to comment on the bug that they do it in a very civil manner. The Eclipse team and I may not see eye to eye on this particular issue, but they are definitely trying to do the right thing for the overall Eclipse platform. We all just need to work together to find an appropriate design to benefit everyone.
The good news is that I believe I have an idea for a new approach that may just work without specific help from the Eclipse team. This is going to take time for me to pull together, but I have done some proof of concept work that makes me believe it can work. I offer no guarantee on outcome or time frame, but I am starting to find some time to work on it again.
