Yesterday I installed both the Motorola 6.3 SDK and the (apparently forked) EclipseME 1.5 that comes with it into Eclipse 3.2.2 (Windows XP SP2). I "developed" a "Hello, World!" MIDlet for the V3xx handset; the MIDlet runs (emulates) fine when started either with Eclipse's Run or with the SDK's LaunchPad. But when started with Eclipse's Debug the DeviceEmulator window is tiny and unusable, although as far as I can tell from console output the emulation process is otherwise OK.
I note that the SDK Release Notes says in the Known Issues list, "The integration of the Motorola J2ME SDK with the Eclipse IDE does not allow the debug of the MIDlets. This feature will be included in future releases of Motorola J2ME SDK." But then there's another note which seems to contradict that: "To use debug mode in Eclipse IDE it is necessary to uncheck option "Suspend execution on uncaught exceptions" in Window | Preferences | Java | Debug." (I had unchecked that and also "Suspend execution on compilation errors.") Is debugging via EclipseME and the Moto SDK possible? Should I use the mainline EclipseME 1.6.6? Or more generally what software versions and/or workaround(s) should I be using? I also sent a message to motodev tech support. In it I noted that forking EclipseME would likely produce version compatibility headaches forever. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Steve Brecher) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
