Hi Markus,

Thanks for your help. I just installed 1.7.6 and its working beautifully. 
Another advantage I noticed was that now every time I change the active symbol 
set eclipse doesnt build the project all over again.

  The current version allows specifying values for variables. Did you
  update your EclipseME?

  You can install an antenna-plugin for eclipse. This adds some
  preprocessor-functionality, but that is now integrated into the
  build-process. That means, if you use it, it only acts when you save a
  file. If you change some preprocessor-flags, the changes are not
  reflected in files which are currently not open.
