No real configuration change that seems a likely candidate for suspicion.  I
recently installed Mylyn but I'm pretty sure I've closed and launched
Eclipse at least a couple of times between then and when this occurred.

Do the hooks do anything related to workspace settings at
start-up/shut-down?  I work a lot on my commute and often have transitions
into stand-by and hibernate.  Sometimes these happen when I'm on low battery
and I've often wondered whether Windows would always give Eclipse enough
time to fully save workspace settings when there is a shutdown forced by low
battery.  I had one of those situations not too long before this happened, I
think.

The problem definitely got fixed as soon as I disabled the preprocessor.
And everything else I tried before then failed.  I don't use the
preprocessor, so that's ok with me.
