I don't get the same error. I did:
$ rm -fr ~/.m2/repository/*
$ mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true install
$ ant
I have:

note that two different versions of servlet-api.jar are downloaded:
$ ls ~/.m2/repository/javax/servlet/servlet-api
2.3 2.4
Yep, 2.3 is a dependency of org.nuxeo.theme and 2.4 is from other nx
components.
You did get any error right ?

I managed to compile it without any problem with JDK 1.5.0. I'm testing
with java 6 now.
