Hi Andrew,

data migration from legacy applications is something that many customers will need at some point.

To address this need, we have started working on an import/export frameworl, wich lives in org.nuxeo.ecm.core.api.io:

http://svn.nuxeo.org/trac/nuxeo/browser/org.nuxeo.ecm.core/trunk/ nuxeo-core-api/src/main/java/org/nuxeo/ecm/core/api/io

It is pluggable, like everything else in Nuxeo. Currently only our zip-based export file format is supported, but the whole idea is to make it easier for people to write the plugins they need to interface with their legacy systems.

We're going to do this kind of work for customers over the summer.

Of course, we welcome contributions of plugins that would be generic enough to prove useful to a large class of users (think Documentum import, Lotus Notes import, etc.).

And of course, it's by working on new import plugins that we can improve the framework, so your ideas on this subject are very welcome.

  S.

Hello guys,

I am really new to the area of Document Mgmt so please excuse my ignorance. My client is using a commercial DocMgmt system and I am wondering if it might be possible to move away from it and towards nuxeo. One issue is that they have many, many documents in the other system. They would all have to be moved over.
I am thinking of some sort of a bulk loading scheme.
This might involve writing a bit of code to extract all the docs from the existing system, something that is quite do-able since there is an API we can use.
But then nuxeo would have to provide a bulk loader, I think...
Has anyone done anything like this before?
