From my own experience (Test version of Nuxeo M3 on Firefox Mac), when
I dropped a directory containing 4 files, it worked fine, but when I
tried a slightly bigger directory (like 720 files), then I regularly
got a firefox alert saying that the page contain an unresponsive
script ("A Script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped
responding...").
When I asked to continue, the download did continue, but the question
was keeping popping up to the point where I had to stop the upload.

So my questions are :
What are the well known limitations of the firefox extension that
allow Drag and Drop of files to Nuxeo ? a maximum number or size of
file to upload for instance ?
Is there a roadmap to get rid of them ?

And perhaps a clue : I am using the Nuxeo Firefox Plugin 0.5 ... is
that the latest version ?

We're working on a new version that will leverage the new RESTful web service implementation in Nuxeo Platform.

And something not directly related to my previous question : even if
there seems to be some issue, is that extension part of the open
source project ? Can it be used independently from Nuxeo (the ECM) ?

http://svn.nuxeo.org/trac/nuxeo/browser/browser-extensions/ NXFirefoxHelper/trunk

If yes, where is the source and under which license is it released ?

http://svn.nuxeo.org/trac/nuxeo/browser/browser-extensions/ NXFirefoxHelper/trunk/Nx5Helper.xpi/chrome/chromeFiles/content/ license.txt

(-> MPL 1.1/GPL 2.0/LGPL 2.1, your choice).
