Afraid I cannot help with your problem, however when using the WSS be wary of some of the outstanding (and still unscheduled) issues:

NXP-4640 With WSS and Windows Explorer, documents are displayed according to name
NXP-4641 Creating a folder using Windows Explorer and WSS

The main affect being that if you rename a file/folder they are displayed in windows (Explorer and Office Open/Save Dialog) using their original names. Whilst, in some ways a trivial issue, we have found that it makes life very difficult for users.

We have also noticed that Windows Explorer seems to be very overzealous with cacheing and its document/folder lists are more often than not 'out of date'. Hitting F5, Ctrl-R, whilst 'flashing the screen' does not re-request a directory list from the server. The Open/Save dialog, however, does not appear to have such a problem. Anyone else seen this?

Sean

Hi all,

I am new to the forum. We are in the final testing stages before going live
with Nuxeo 5.3.0 - developer is on vacation so I am going to ask a question in
hopes to having an answer when he gets back....

We are usng WSS (Windows Sharepoint Services) to connect to Nuxeo from within Word and
Excel. This indeed does work but when you navigate to the Nuxeo repository to save/open
a document, the default view within Word (2003) is "WebView". There are two
problems with this:

- the folders are in no particular order (probably the order created/imported);
if you drill into the folder, the documents are also not ordered
- users cannot find the folder they want by starting to type the folder name (we called
it "incremental search" in another database). There are hundreds to thousands
of folders within a container so users really want to be able to start typing a folder
name (which is a person's lastname + firstname) to get close; huge time saver; they will
string me up if they cannot do this

Of course, you can switch to "Details" view within Word to get the
ordering/searching but Word (or Nuxeo) does not allow setting it to this by default so
*everytime* the user goes to file/retrieve something, they have to switch the view again.
These users file dozens if not hundreds of docs a day into dozens of folders so they
need it to be easy.

I am thinking that perhaps there is one of two ways of solving this:

1) developer needs to configure something within Nuxeo to return the results ordered
property (for both folders and documents within folders) and also to somehow return it so
that Word does not show it as a "WebView"

2) Perhaps there are registry settings within Word that would cause Word to
show the details view by default so that users do not need to switch to this
each time.

3) or some combination of the two above.

I did note that if the user navigates to the folders via the Windows Explorer
interface that has been linked in by WSS from within Network Places, that the
lists are ordered and searchable. For some users this would work (as they are
dragging scanned documents from another system folder) but for 80% of them,
they are composing documents in Word and want the ability to save directly from
within Word.

Thoughts?
