'Socialism' is a term so broad as to be essentially non descriptive. In
addition, while I am not happy with the form of capitalism practiced in the
US, the socialist societies that I am aware of have failed, totally, from
gender-equality, environmental and QOL standpoints.
Maybe I'm on the wrong list, but I am getting the impression that some of the
contributions on ECOFEM are related less to pursuing healthy ecology and
feminism than they are about complaining. While I'm not against venting, it
would be nice to hear some of the more 'socialist' among us talk about
solutions, and less about whining about the system as it stands. For
example, if you really think that we would be better off in a 'socialist'
society, I'd be interested to know how it would work--what kind of socialism,
and how do you get around the issues of individual self interest, varying
work ethics and talents, etc.. that have resulted in unworkable and low QOL
societies.
Don't mean to flame anyone-- I would just like to hear more about the
practical thinking behind the soundbites.
