Jayne, you are absolutely right. In the womyns movement you can hear the
hatred aimed at men alive and dead. Perhaps if we look at the hate here we
can better understand it. I'm sure that we can all understand where that
comes from. While we know its wrong and counterproductive.
Fear also makes people generalise. It is in our nature to compartmentalise
and we act closer to that instinctual level when we feel threatened.
So, the anti-environment hate purveyors probably feel very unsafe, feel
attacked by us. They probably don't understand that the real threat to
their well being comes from destroying the environment where they live - on
earth. On the other hand they may understand this all too well. When
people understand something that is threatening they tend to deny it and so
things which appear most stupid. For example, a womyn may react to
finding a lump in her breast by just not checking it again. Ignoring it,
and hoping it'll go away.
Not all people react in the same way, otherwise we wouldn't have
environmentalists.
