Re: Mary Simmons' comments on "privilege:" I very much agree
with the actuality that all of us using the Internet (in any way,
form or fashion) are "privileged!" I think I said same many "emos"
ago..... Everything (and one) is dependent on comparisons as
to "rank" - in anything. And comparisons are just that - we are
all *MORE* privileged than, and *less* privileged than - SOMEONE,
SOMEWHERE. I think we can all agree that we've known of too many
people who were NOT paid their monetary "worth" - whether too much
less - OR - too much MORE!
Now, for your "Utopian" idea of "self-rule," I don't know about that.
I'll have to think about it. I'm afraid you must have known more
"civilized" folks than I have. Increasingly, I am beginning to
believe that humankind, as a group, have not really progressed much
since the *19th* century (and some before that!). Sorry if I seem so
negative, but that's my experience. I do try to have "hope,"
however...........
