Some time ago I caught the tail end of a news report on New Zealand's
re-zoning along watershed, vs. political boundaries. What I understood was
that industry and environmental groups got together with politicians to
partition land and accompanying regulations according to the natural
hydrological boundaries.
I'm not sure I got this right (only saw a couple of minutes of the
broadcast), but it seemed like a very sensible thing to do. Does anyone know
anything about this, and what do you think about trying to implement
something like this elsewhere?
