Jeez, Al - finally I agree with a few opinions of yours! Not that I
don't completely understand the "workplace" situations you referred to
a while back; trying to be "PC" and "keep your job." This topic is so
near to one of my MAIN peeves that I really can't discuss it very
well. I am very different from most in ANY job I've ever been in ---
I've had to accept it and hope others can too (of course, most of them
CANNOT). For better or worse - I try to keep a "balance" and
objectivity; I will NOT be "swallowed whole" if I can help it. Nor
will I sell my soul.....
When I see statements like someone just made (I mistakenly deleted it)
on the need for this list to be more "scholarly," then *I* want to
unsubscribe! Oh, please! I am realizing that many of the more verbal
ones here are either students, professors or otherwise "scholarly"
folk! Though I am employed at a university, I feel I am more valuable
with an eye to the "outside world" rather than being strapped in the
world of intellectual theory debate. I do enjoy that - and think it
is a necessary thing - however, if our list members don't "branch out"
and, as you said
>"...expand and spread the message"
rather than
>"...singing to the choir..."
this country - yes, the good ole US of A, is going to be in worse
shape than we can imagine. I could go on about just what is happening
in MY state, but will refrain right now.
Jenny (from New Zealand) stated that she felt

I also have to agree with her when she states her distaste for a list
where the

I very much appreciate and enjoy those scientific women among us who
help us understand the technology and biologic pieces of the problems
we face and are (theoretically) trying to solve! As I've said before
- VIVA la DIVERSITY!
