In conjunction with the Fourth World Conference On Women, we would like to
review books pertaining to women's issues in our next issue (Sept./Oct.) of
OTHERWISE. If you know of any particular works we should consider, please
let us know. Also, if you would be interested or know of someone else who
would like to do a review for this issue, please let us know. We would
consider reprinting appropriate reviews or reviews that have been written
already but not yet published. Our time is limited, we need completed
reviews by the end of August, preferrably by email.
Here's some information on us:
OTHERWISE is a new bimonthly book review. It features about-to-be published
books, with timely news of university, alternative, international and
mainstream publications exploring two areas:
1.) the nature and practice of sustainable development, and
2.) the ecosystems impacted by development, especially
human/cultural ecosystems.
OTHERWISE is a publication of the Earth Pledge Foundation, a not-for-profit
foundation that promotes sustainable development as the most effective way of
encouraging economic, social and cultural activity that protects and supports
earth's ecosystems.
EPF also promotes a global commitment to the United Nations Pledge:
"Recognizing that people's action toward nature and each other are the
source of growing damage to the environment and resources needed to meet
human needs and ensure survival and development, I pledge to act to the best
of my ability to help make Earth a secure and hospitable home for the present
and future generations."
We began bimonthly publication in the spring of 1995. Free university and
bookstore distribution of the 48 page book review is 10,000. One third of
our space is allotted to appropriate display advertising. Our format is
approximately 8 1/2" x 11", printed black and white on 90% post consumer
recycled newsprint using soybean based ink.
