i believe that the last time that petition was circulated,
or at least the last time it came my way and i sent it
along, i very shortly afterwards saw an email saying
that the response had been too great and to stop
circulating the petition?

although.....to get to MUCH response doesn't seem like something
any activist would easily discourage. so, does anyone know
if there is any validity to this story?

and...does anyone know if the petition was actually sent/used
to the french government to demonstrate the widespread dissent
over the nuclear tests?

And another problem: letters like these are illegal on the Net.
(Though this one may not count as a chain letter.)

I found this out because I protested when it was banned from another list,
first time round. The listowner sympathised with the petition but
said she had to do it.
