                                    NATURAL SCIENCES

Berry College invites applications and nominations for the position of
Dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences.

Berry, located on 28,000 acres in the scenic northwest Georgia 
mountains next to Rome, GA, is an independent, coeducational college
with up to 2,000 undergraduates and graduate students and a
comprehensive curriculum that stresses academic excellence, practical
work experience, and an interdenominational religion-in-life program. 
 Bachelor of science, bachelor of arts, bachelor of music, master of
business administration, master of education and education specialist
degrees are offered.  Berry is one of the approximately 375 colleges
and universities around the country selected for inclusion in
Peterson's Competitive Colleges.  Rome is located midway between
Atlanta, GA and Chattanooga, TN.

The Dean serves as one of five academic leaders reporting to the
Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The other four are the Dean of
Academic Services, the Dean of the School of Business, the Dean of the
School of Education and Human Sciences, and the Dean of the School of
Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.  The School of Mathematics and
Natural Sciences offers undergraduate majors in Animal Science,
Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Decision Science,
Horticulture, Mathematics, and Physics.  There are approximately 500
students seeking majors in the School .  A new science facility is
being planned.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in one of the fields 
included in the School; a record of teaching, research, and service
that qualifies for the rank of full professor; strong administrative,
organizational, planning, and communication skills; and the experience
and skills needed to represent the School within the College and to
external constituencies.

names, addresses, and telephone numbers of four references, should be
sent to Dr. Doyle Mathis, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Berry
College, Mount Berry, Georgia  30149.  Screening of applications will
begin immediately, but applications will be accepted until the
position is filled.
