Meat consuption and the raising of livestock for mass consumpton is
almost THE major factor in contributing to the deforestation of South
America and Africa. Cattle especially need lots of land for feeding
and when they feed they eat up all the nutrients in the soil so what
used to be able to feed two cows after a year cannot even feed one. One
of the reasons they are clearing so much land is not for agriculture
but for graising lands.
the environment...but then again that is just my humble opinion.)
