Over the past couple of weeks, there have been suggestions for
discussion on this list, and I haven't seen any discussions evolve on
the suggestions. While some the recent posts may be interesting to
the environmentalist in each of us, we should take advantage of this
forum as an opportunity to share ideas about the theories of
ecofeminism and the practical applications of ecofeminism. I'll be
the first to admit that I am not as well read in ecofeminism as I
should be to comfortably discuss some issues, but I joined this list
to learn from the intelligent dialogue of others. I work in state
government as an environmental planner and I do not see any links made
to ecofeminism in any of the environmental or planning issues or
movements in Florida. This is my main interest in ecofeminism - how
do we move from the theories to action? Many of the organizations
that may defined as "ecofeminist groups" or based on ecofeminist
theory are localized and often focus on one issue. Many women are
active environmentalists and many women are active feminists, but what
do we need to do to become ecofeminists? What role do men play in
ecofeminism? I've noticed that there are many men on this list who
consider themselves ecofeminists and appear to be very informed about
feminism, ecofeminism and the environment. Is the role men play
different in the evolution of ecofeminist theory versus the evolution
of ecofeminist action? Just a few questions to hopefully spark some
interest.....
