The IAPH (International Association of Women Philosophers) is moving forward wi
th plans for its next triennial symposium to be held August 6-9, 1998 in
Boston (just before the World Congress of Philosophy). We're expanding the
number of official languages for the symposium from the usual two (German and
English) to four (adding French and Spanish). To facilitate reviewing the
abstracts and papers people submit, we're setting up two program committees,
one, European based, to review papers in German and French and another one
(North America based) to review submissions in English and Spanish. I'm
looking for volunteers to serve on the latter committee, in particular people w
ho are fluent in Spanish and can review submissions from Spanish-speaking
countries. The work of the program committee won't actually start for about
a year because the call for papers isn't out yet, but it will be soon.
Drop me an e-mail note privately if you're interested. Preference will go to p
eople who are IAPH members (or willing to become one) and/or have partici-
pated in previous IAPH symposia, e.g., Vienna in 1995, Amsterdam in 1992,
Berlin in 1989, etc.
Watch this space for more information on the symposium as plans shape up.
