You might want to look into the different places that the tampons are
being manufactured (i.e. the maquiladoras along the US Mexico boarder
would be one place they might be made) If they are being made there,
there is a great deal of environmental problems that exist. Just a

A few years ago (my guess is in 1994?) Ms magazine had a short, but
informative discussion, concerning the environmental hazards of tampon
production. It especially talked about the bleaching process involved in
the making of tampons.
