im not gonna let this drop....
what i said was "you are writing too much..." and that he doesnt have to
repond to everything said. besides that, his tone is often
intellectually arrogant...and yeah i think there is definitely a place
for men here which beleive it or not is one of the reasons i like it.
still, we are all gendered. even if we are all sympathetic to feminist
ideas or whatever, we are all coming from many places, one of which is
the difference in our genders and that affects how we will communicate
and we have to be mindful of it, especially the men on the list. in
asking for mindfulness im not asking for silence.
heres an example: im on an all women mailing list and there have been
times where ive talked WAY too much, because i do like to hear myself talk
sometimes, and i am not always mindful that not every woman is as confident
about their ideas as me (i have the privilege not to notice it). and
those women shouldnt have to tell me "anne you take up a lot of psychic
space"..i should be aware when that could be happening.

**I do think that abortion done for the purposes of sex selection is a VERY
patriarchal activity. How many women in India today are having abortions
because they are carrying a male fetus? Almost none I am sure. But how
about those carrying female fetuses? I am afraid that abortion is being
used to "deselect" female fetuses much more than we want to realize. From
an ecological standpoint this unnatural selection of who is born and who is
not will have dramatic effects on the balance of nature.
