Stoney:

I know this is a very anxious time for you and your mother. I have been
in your shoes and fully understand the brevity of your situation. I
would like to pass on a few suggestions:

First - you mentioned she "most likely" has a cancerous lump. Please -
wait until the pathology report confirm your suspicion. Remember, there
is always a possibility the lump could be non-malignant.

If there is a malignancy - your mom (and in some ways you) have a lot of
decisions to make. Tumors are "graded" - and many times the grading can
help in determining her treatment options.

Some women stick to entirely conventional therapy -
lumpectomy/mastectomy/chemo/radition, etc. Others vie for natural
healing, visualization, herbs, prayer, etc. Finally many women now
choose to combine the best of the traditional and alternative methods.

What you both need to remember, though, is you have the right to ask
questions, seek 2nd, 3rd, or any number of opinions, research options
your doctor may not suggest and DO NOT ALLOW ANY HEALTH CARE
WORKER/PHYSICIAN TO EVER MAKE YOU FEEL YOUR QUESTIONS ARE STUPID,
UNNECESSARY, IRRELEVENT, ETC. The physicians work for YOU. Demand the
best care and the respect that your mother deserves. If you do not feel
your physician has you mothers best interest at hand, find a docotr that
she/you feel more comfortable with.

I sincerely hope that your mother's biopsy will be negative. If there
is any other specific questions, please feel free to email me privately.

My thoughts are with you and your mother at this very difficult time.

"How does one become a butterfly?" she asked. "You must want to fly so
much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar."

A friend who works in the health food industry said that eating some
Brazil nuts every day prevented cancer, because of the selenium it
contained. Maybe it will do some good.
