The species that are being discussed to be removed from the Endangered
Species list would not simply be "delisted" and then you can hunt them.
They would be down listed to "threatened", which is the category for
species who are out of immediate danger, but still need some type of
protection.
Although there is certainly a lot of concern over the possible delisting
of the species, it may be a very good political move. There is,
unfortunately, so much opposition to the ESA in both the House and
Senate - and we can rattle off some names of those who would like to see
the ESA go the way of the Carolina Parakeet or the Blue Pike (Helms,
Murkowski, Hatch, Young, et.al) - that choosing what species have made
significant progress enough to be downlisted can demonstrate that the
ESA REALLY works - and thus should be strengthened and kept in force.

Thanks for your reply and I do agree that both men and women have played
their parts in the history of domination and its effects. I was not trying
to say that women have never dominated or that they are innocent in the eyes
of history, and I am trying to be careful of making general statements and
general assumptions. Thank you very much for your reply. I think we can all
learn alot from each other. As much as we cannot entirely blame the male
gender for our past history, we also cannot shut our eyes to the past
histories of both sexes and their impact on the world today.....
